VGL Studio (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Cat Translator mobile application (“App”). This App is provided as a free service and is intended purely for entertainment.
Cat Translator requests access to your device microphone so it can listen to your cat’s meows and produce a playful, novelty “translation”.
Your audio is recorded and analyzed in real time entirely on your device. The App does not upload, transmit, or store your audio recordings on our servers, and we do not use your audio to identify you. The “translation” is generated locally and is meant for fun only — it is not a scientific or accurate interpretation of animal sounds.
Cat Translator lets you add photos to the cat profiles you create — both a profile picture and a personal photo album for each cat. You may either take a new photo with your device camera or select one or more existing images through your device’s photo picker. Camera and photo access are optional and are used only when you actively choose to add a photo.
Any photo you add is copied and stored locally on your device, in the App’s private storage, so it can appear in your cat’s profile and album. We do not upload, collect, or transmit your photos to our servers or to any third party.
The App includes a built-in gallery of cat pictures that are bundled with the App, and it also lets you save pictures to your device. When you choose to save a picture — whether a bundled cat picture or one of your own photos — it is written to your device’s shared media storage (your gallery) at your request. On older Android versions (Android 9 and below), this requires storage permission. We do not access, read, or collect any other files on your device.
Cat profiles, the photo album you build for each cat, saved conversations, and any images you save or create with the App are stored locally on your device. You own and control this content. You can delete any photo from within the App, and deleting a photo — or deleting the cat profile it belongs to — permanently removes the corresponding file from the App’s storage on your device. Any sharing happens only when you actively choose to share it through another app on your device.

We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number unless you voluntarily provide it (for example, when contacting us by email). The App does not collect precise location information.

Our App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. These services may use cookies, device identifiers, or your Advertising ID to serve advertisements, including personalized ads based on your interests. You can opt out of personalized advertising or reset your Advertising ID through your device settings.

To understand how the App is used and to measure the effectiveness of our marketing, we use analytics and attribution services including Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, AppsFlyer, Amplitude, and the Meta (Facebook) SDK. These services may collect device identifiers, usage events, and diagnostic data. The data is used in aggregate to improve the App and is governed by each provider’s own privacy policy.

We retain collected data for as long as you use the App and for a reasonable time thereafter. If you would like us to delete your data, please contact us using the information below.
You can opt out of all data collection by uninstalling the App; because your in-app photos and other content are stored only in the App’s private storage, uninstalling also removes them. You may also reset or delete your Advertising ID through your device settings. To remove content stored inside the App (such as cat profiles, photos, or saved conversations), you can delete it within the App or clear the App’s data. Our App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
We implement standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
